Neurex celebrates its 20th... Come and make merry with us!

Three decades ago, research in neuroscience was already particularly dynamic and efficient in the upper Rhine region where three big scientific poles in the universities of Basel (Switzerland), Freiburg (Germany) and Strasbourg (France) had been identified.

Universities had complementary expertise ranging from the molecular analysis to behavioural studies through analysis of neuronal network and drug actions, but integration of neuroscience as a discipline was lacking.

Approximatively 20 years ago, labs of the three universities decided to gather their forces by creating Neurex, the neuroscience research cross-border network (2001).

Nowadays Neurex brings together more than 110 laboratories (fundamental, clinical and industrial) and 1200 researchers, clinicians, engineers and doctoral students in neurosciences field.

During these last 20 years, workshops and meetings organised by researchers of the network have permitted to move forward the field of Neuroscience and brought knowledge in the physiology and pathology of the brain.

Neurex also helped to develop international neuroscience training programs for the students, young researchers as well as for health professionals.

Pole of excellence, Neurex was also a centre of attractiveness for all companies of the cross-border region. It has offered an optimal scientific environment to the pharmaceutical companies involved in neuroscience research. In order to facilitate the transfer of technology,  Neurex has also developed projects based on the crossed fertilization of academic and industrial research.

Finally, in order to satisfy the high need of the public for information on the topic related to brain and brain pathologies, Neurex has organized numerous outreach events (conferences, exhibitions).

These different aspects of Neurex activities will be presented.

All the lectures during this day will be either in French or in German with a simultaneous translation (in German or French).
